When I started my restoration project a few years ago I figured a low cost welder would be all I need probably not going to get much use after I am done. I bought a Harbor Freight 170 AMP it was $159 on sale also bought a cart and two 60 cubic foot tanks I am setup for steel, silicone bronze and stainless, for the most part it works good the only issue I noticed is it starts like one of the older touch start welders and that can make for a sputter start, I learned right off to always start with a fresh angle cut wire and flow a little gas before welding otherwise not bad.
