Pro's with SS are you only do it once. Con's are that if they don't fit, double flaring is almost impossible - you almost always have to use a very expensive compression fitting and those are not allowed in some jurisdictions.

Myself, I buy Copper/Nickel by the coil, bend it myself.
Pro's, lasts as long as SS, easy to work with, can double flare, costs less then SS, fit is as good as you want to put the effort into.
Con's, it's DIY, takes a little more time, and you need the tools - but they are relatively cheap.

I've used stainless once and will never use it again. Hard to get things to seal without ungodly pressure on the flare nuts, not easy to adjust to fit correctly.

I've used copper-nickel a couple of times and LOVE it. It's a forever line.

Frankly, STEEL lines are forever lines, too - if you do what the brake manufacturers still to this very day say to do - FLUSH the brake system every 2 years. It's lack of maintenance that causes brake lines to fail.
The brake lines on my SX4 were very clean, the system clean, I replaced only the hoses.
I put copper-nickel lines on my 73 Javelin because the prior owner screwed things up royally and I didn't want to pull the engine to route steel lines through the engine bay.
I used some stainless on my 70 and swore never again. I don't know why I did it because I do flush things and know the steel lines would last forever with any routine maintenance.

Double flare tools are not expensive if you want to make your own lines.

Frankly, I will never use stainless ever again. I will only use steel - or copper-nickel.

And I flush my brakes because it makes the master cylinder, wheel cylinders, calipers and lines last much longer.

I used the brake lines sold on EBay. They are quite flexible yet strong and are already flared. They are a little long. Less expensive and good shipping.

Good decision.  Don't use stainless as it's a solution looking for a problem, and also a PITA to get them to seal.  Steel lines will last forever if you change the fluid even every 5 years.

Amen.  Only used stainless once.  Leaks at every fitting.  Had to remove the lines.   With a steel female fitting in a vise tightened the bejesus out of every connection to dress up the flare.  I've looked at the copper/nickel variety and that goldish color turns me off.  It's steel for me from now on.

Want to keep your steel lines lasting decades, your master cylinder, wheel cylinders and calipers with less sludge, less pitting, cleaner?
