Have a ‘69 AMX with vacuum wipers. Rebuilt the motor and it worked great off the car. Added a vacuum canister to help, but they still don’t work. Any ideas or suggestions?

Aren’t they run off the fuel pump? How’d you test it?

Thanks for your response. Vacuum coming from intake manifold. Wiper motor worked fine out of the car unattached to the wiper arms.

I don’t know how that would work off intake manifold vacuum - they’re supposed to operate off the fuel pump - below is a photo taken from the APD website:

When everything is in good condition they work well enough.  If they're not working you have some component not carrying it's load
they call me Capt RETIRED!

The vacuum line from the pump Y's into the PCV line. The fuel pump is to assist the wiper motor when manifold vacuum is low.

Thanks again. I don’t have an original fuel pump on my motor. It’s been changed before I owned the car.

Dual fuel pump and missing line (?) is probably the answer.

There's no drag on the motor without the arms sweeping across the windshield. If you're missing the two stage fuel pump, that's likely the problem.

Do you have a "lumpy" cam? That can also reduce vacuum to the wipers.
