Looks like shifter position on the new one is going to be 3-4 inches forward of the t-10, considering the input shaft lengths.

It is supposed to match the stock shifter location. I will let you know when I get it in the car.

If shifter can be mtd at the rear position it could be very close.
Following closely for S/C fitment.

Wow Thanks picture looks like a shifter match to me, are you going use factory Hurst shifter? I wanted to use my factory shifter with t Handle, if it will bolt up. Is it going in an SC Rambler. Also did you get the bellhousing that goes with it to mount to block. They told me it was a GM TKX and they provide bell housing to match to AMC block. This Info I got from Silver Sport. Is this where you got your TKX from Silver Sport and how long did it take. Did you also get drive shaft yoke. I may just have them send me a new drive shaft ready to go and put mine away for future use. Yes keep sending info and pictures on how it fits. Thanks to all that responded!!!  Larry

Thanks Larry. Yes I ordered Silver Sports Tremec kit for AMC. The kit has the TKX trans with the shifter modification, the bell housing, hydraulic master cylinder, throw out bearing, drive shaft yoke with ujointand trans mount. It took 6 weeks to get the transmission kit and unfortunately due to increased demand and supply issues from Tremec and other suppliers their order to ship times are increasing daily. When I placed my order they said there was 26 orders ahead of mine so if you are thinking about it order soon.

That's good news, it sounds like they will be doing them for some time and at that number will be sorting out installs in many AMC models. Did you have any discussion about an install with a Jeep bell and stock clutch springs?

It's going into his 74 Javelin AMX. We're working now on getting the bell housing centered to the crank. Since nobody seems to have any AMC offset dowels, we're having to make them. We had an idea to take some picture of both of the transmissions side by side, with the bell housings facing down on a couple of boards so that you can see how close they are. Hopefully Kevin can get them posted up here later today. It'll answer a lot of questions.

I can try to answer some of the questions while we wait for more shifter location pics. - The factory shifter does not have 2 holes to bolt it in. See his picture of his trannys. The shifter for the TKX bolts in, the shifter on the T10 slides and snaps in. You will need to select a new shifter. There are hundreds to choose from but I don't think there are any exactly like the original Hursts. If you drill out the original you cannot go back. - Silver Sport (SS) will sell you the bell housing, probably a Quick Time. I don't think there is a difference from 69 to later. - There are different size yokes. For ease of description, and because I can't remember the numbers, they are large and small. AMC has the small. The driveshaft that SS provides has the large yoke on the transmission end. You need to tell them which yoke you will use for the differential end. If you want to go large you will need to also purchase the yoke. They also have them. - The driveshaft also comes with the kit, but you have to measure the correct legnth once your transmission and rear yoke (if you change it) are installed. IIRC it only took a couple weeks to get mine back, that was in 2007. - The TKX input shaft, if its the same as the TKO, has a different bearing in the flywheel. Actually, it has a bearing in the flywheel instead of a brass bushing. The bearing with the closest OD of the bushing is a little larger and needs to be machined down to fit in the flywheel. I took mine to a local machine shop for that...about $20 for labor. SS will also provide this bearing. - I also kept all my original stuff (T10, bell housing, shifter, shaft, yoke, clutch linkage) in case I want to go back in the future.
