Is there any option for replacement of the rubber bushings on the transmission crossmember for our pre-67 big body cars. Mine are awfully cracked..

I thought I read somewhere someone adapted the steering bushing from a honda or something? I can no longer find the thread.

If there is no option I suppose I will have to put it back together as is until I can think of something. I might be able to remove the rubber and pour some polyurethane in there.

Do you mean the thrust bushings, transmission x-member to side sill rubbers? On torque tube cars?

I fabbed up bushings using a drill press and a long bolt, to chuck some sort of rubber bushing in it, and ground it to size using a coarse file or something. Drove them into the two-hole metal strap (which I can't recall; this was pushing 20 years ago now). Something like that.

No idea if they're available now. But today we have internetses. 'back then' they weren't so helpful for this stuff.

Yeah that's the ones. The round ones that the big bolts go through not the rubber blocks. The rubber blocks are reproduced.

I'm thinking I'll get a polyurethane kit and just pour new material in the old sleeve. I just need to make sure I have the inner sleeve centered somehow.
