I have a 1966 rambler classic 770 with 232ci and bw t35. I'm trying to figure out my options for a manual transmission. I'm getting tired of AT problems. If I got a t-96 would it be the same length or would I have to put in a longer or shorter torque tube?
Would be able put a t-10 in it and just put the tail of my t35 on it to hook up to the torque tube?

If you want a standard.....  best way to do this is to buy a car with a standard.  If you want to keep the particular car, buy a complete running parts car, (with the same engine) and swap.  The 4 spd is a very rare and only on the V8. < which has a different bellhousing than the 6)

it is a very different beast than the T10 and the shifter that followed it in 1967.

Parts cars are hard to come by that have manual transmissions.

Your looking at a lot of variables here, but starting with just a T-10 and a torque-tube vehicle, I've never seen or heard of a T-10 mated to a torque-tube, so unless someone chimes in otherwise, I'd say no.
Next you have to make sure the T-10 input shaft is the correct length for the bell housing depth and the input shaft diameter is correct for the pilot bearing. And you'll need to source a flywheel, clutch parts and clutch pedal and linkages.
I think the suggestion of finding the same model/year donor car with a manual would be the way to go.  Probably not what you were hoping.

'66 Marlin/'66 Classic Rebel could be ordered with a T-10 attached to a torque tube.

The T-10 bellhousing was 8" deep. Not sure that there's an 8-inch-deep pre-'72 six-cylinder bellhousing.
