Question's about the Ford Mustang T5 transmission; going into my 69 AMX, 390,4spd, ~500 Hp and Torque;
  1. Who's used one and how do you like it
  2. Was it Beefed up to handle extra Hp
  3. Who beefed up your T5
  4. Has it held up
  5. What extra parts did you need, for example: shifter and Bell Housing
  6. Breakdown of Cost's
Thank you for your help concerning this matter!

You might want to consider one of the TKX kits that bolts right in. https://shiftsst.com/amc-kits

Your not going to get one size fit's all answers on cost.
I picked up the 6.5" Jeep bellhousing for for less then $50, a 4" aluminum driveshaft for $40 and made my own pilot bearing ...
The transmission was built by a local. He runs mid 10's with his Mustang.
12 or 13 years ago that was $800 for the 3.31 T5 transmission.

Last year I changed out for the 2.95 1st.
He guessed 450 HP & 400 ft/lbs of torque for $1800 but I supplied the WC T5 core I picked up for $150.
The 3.31 I bought from him 12 years earlier showed very little to no wear.
It's been just fine behind my 401 that butt dyno says 425 to 450 HP. I'm not gentle on it either, but don't take it to the track.
I've used his T5's in all the conversions I've done.

That TKX kit, numbers wise, looks more like what your looking for. Don't know your resources for parts or DIY.

I built my own trans. 87 WC T5. Replaced third gear due to wear. New bearings and synchros. I put in a cluster support plate, extra preload on bearings, and an MGW positive stop shifter.   I am not drag racing this car but I do play with it and the trans does just fine on a 401 with 360hp at tires.

Your car is a 4 speed car. You will want the auto floor plate and new carpet also. I am using stock engine mounts and stock trans mount modified some and driveline angle is only 1 degree off without cutting up anything.
