there was only bits and pieces left on a couple of them none intact at all.  i order them from NAPA  they were not the original cup type.  i told them i didn't think they would work.  anyway i put one on and nope didn't work or sit down like the original should.  my father in-law said they were $#!^ so he went and dug around in the barn and found over 30 cup style he had from engine rebuild kits he had not used.  found 16 that were what we needed.  went right on like they should.  vacuumed each valve of all the leftover bits.  father in-law said the engine was really clean and looked good with just the valve cover off.  No wear found or anything plugged up push rods had a bit of carbon on them.  the rockers looked brand new.  so he said the 75,592 miles is probably right for the car.  the valve cover gasket was leaking bad,  the plugs were fowled  and it smoked lots.  now it doesn't smoke no leaking from the valve cover. will keep and eye on the plugs in a couple months.   so some time soon we will remove the engine and replace the oil pan gasket and the front an rear seals and new engine mounts.
