76 Pacer 258 needs a new Distributor.  Looking through the post on here it appears to have the Prestolite system that seems to be a problem.   Pretty sure the advance is not working and it seems to be the common problem.  Can't get a new one that I can find.  Later model distributors seem readily available.  What does it take to put in a different distributor from say a 1980 Concord?  What are others doing for a distributor?  Thanks

You can use any of the 6 cylinder distributors. Just swap the drive gear from your prestilite.

So the wiring and ignition box remain the same?

Wiring and control box will be specific to the distributor used. You could even go back to points if you have the correct resistance wire or ballast resistor.
