I have a 1965 Flat head Rambler motor. It came with an old Fram ph 11 filter. Don't seem to be able to find a filter that fits. I keep getting filters that are to short and have the wrong size screw on threads. The closest filter is found was Motorcraft FL 2. Correct length, but the thread size is to small. Seems like all the replacement filters are wrong. Any help??? Thanx

Then your Fram Ph11 was the wrong thread? The filter I used to use on my 64 196 was a Fram PB 50. It sat upside down and was not considered a full flow filter. |

Found it. The fl 1 fit. My mistake. Just finding a fair amount of slight minor problems when fitting a 1965 rambler Flat head in a 1948 Nash 600. Close fit.

According to Rock Auto, the PH11 should fit your 196, as well as a plethora of AMC engines. If the FL-1 fits, it's because someone changed the filter adapter to the more modern Jeep/Chrysler version. That's not a bad thing because the 3/4-16 thread is more popular these days making the filter easier to find and cheaper.
