A monument is being planned for our local 1/4 mile drag strip here in San Diego. Carlsbad Raceway 1964-2004, some famous AMC's raced here including this SS/AMX "Trippin The Lights Fantastic", later renamed "Sheriff of Knottingham".

Starting in 1986, I raced my daily driver 1969 AMX here in the 13's at over 100 mph. Ten years later in 1996, I produced a television show called "Motorhead" and covered bracket races here.

Yeah, I mis-spelled his name. I have his 8' level, a portable air tank, some books a 360 block, a pair of heads and some misc other stuff there.  Auction was near Jefferson, Iowa
I didn't want to remove his name he had scratched in the red paint on his level so it's still there.

Motorhead_1,
The car is with a collector in the New York area, we spoke on the phone years ago. The "Motorhead" TV show inspired another show called "Motorhead Garage" that is still running. Ted Jones of Masters Entertainment Group used the same song for the introduction, similar name and graphics for the first few seasons with host Sam Memmolo, before the show went to High Definition and they changed the intro in 2010. Sam is no longer with the show, but it still runs with new hosts.
Tom

Yes,that is Bruce's car. He was a member of our car club "JAVAMX" San Diego. Mid 70's our club ruled the Club Drags at Carlsbad! I spent many a night in the alley talkin shop and having some refreshments.  I was fortunate to see Bruce one last time at a Chilsons Meet before he passed. Glad to see a Monument is going up for the Track.

Thanks for the comment Eric, that's great you knew Bruce. I had the pleasure of speaking with him on the phone about a year before he passed, his son was very helpful in making that happen.
Building an AMX/3 is a big undertaking, what's your budget? :)
Many cool AMC's have raced at Carlsbad Raceway over the years, here are a few.

Tim K. was running 11.10 on 4/11/1999.

Cool pics Tom.  I still have some from the Club Drags in the early/mid 70's. We never had that many fans in the stands.
