Thought I'd start a thread for this awesome car!  Don't get too excited though, it's going to be a slow project because it's 3rd in line behind the Javelin and the Gremlin.  However, I have acquired a 401 motor for it and I've started the process to changing back to 5x4.5 lug spacing (currently set up with chevy spacing).

I shot a "walk around" video from when I first got it and did a couple of other posts on it.  All the info is at my blog:  http://asifnyc.com/category/1974-matador/

BAM!  This thread is back on!  Stuff is happening... this build is now in full tilt boogie mode. So follow along and get ready to see this BEAST finally return to the track where it belongs :)

there is a new post on my blog with a lot of details but here are the cliff notes.

A new member joined my local AMC club. He has a '63 Ambassador wagon with a LS/T56 that he does track days with!  The LS motor finally started coming apart so Andy is without a track car.  I told him if he helps be build the Matador he can drive it! He's working on getting his competition license and the current plan is to fast track (heh heh) this build and get the car ready by MARCH.

Super excited that this is really happening. I had fully given up on this car (as I'm sure all of you had too).  But now that it has a purpose AND I have real help I'm all in!
