limits of AMC 20 rear ends

Before I invest in 1 piece axles, will they hold up in a street strip gremlin makings turbo 800hp?

ive heard people say 600hp..but i dont know.. im trying to get mine rebuilt...were did you find the 1 piece axles.?? stuff is getting so so so so expensive

It will hold so long as you never get traction. Personally I would be changing rear end if I was you.

Without knowing all the particulars of your project I'll list some rear end options in the order I would be using based strictly on cost.

1. Ford 8.8" from a pickup truck

2. Dana 60

3. 9" Ford

 I got DrDiff passenger axles, which you cut to size, Moser have you send yours for measuring.

Tom`s choices of Ford allow other upgrades, like floating hubs, different ratios etc., as there is a lot of Ford racing equipment currently available, obviously not the case for AM20`s.

  i looked at their website... maybe i missed seeing 1 piece 1969 amc model 20 axles.. i need to go out and count my splines....but i tried to pull off the wheel hub.. with a puller and bent the F out of it.. i tried to pull from all different directions and sides .. so not to get any pinching actions ... LOL that thing is on there... FOREVER unless i can find a 50ton press or something

Isn't a complete used Ford 8.8 less cost than a pair of AMC Model 20 Carrier Brgs, or R&P Set alone?

Yards around here will sell you an Explorer 8.8", with disc brakes, 31-spline axles, posi, and have your choice of 3.55, 3.73, or 4.10 gear complete for $300 or less.
