Does anyone know the size of the bolts that hold the interior paddle door handle bracket to the door itself in a 1970 Javelin? It is a fine thread and 3/8" head, so 1/2" fine? I am debating whether to go to all the trouble of a heli-coil or similar repair or just get a slightly larger self tapping bolt? Or perhaps I should use a smaller bolt and put a nut on the other end?
Thanks! Chris |

I have a 68, the bolts are 1/4-20. These are not critical fasteners so I think any of the options you propose should work fine once you verify the glass wont contact it anywhere in it's travel. I had to put a nut on the backside of the upper-rear-window-stop when it stripped out and it seems to be working fine.
