Well something has to be wrong. Power Steering kit should not all be LPS:

You are looking at a power steering kit, which is for adding power steering to a non-power steering equipped car. So you’re ordering a kit for a car equipped as described on each line there.

Thanks, that clears up this and some other sections on steering that also did not make sense.
For the OP, this article may help if looking for a donor box:

The quick ratio Saginaw boxes from 70s vintage GM cars had the number "76" cast into the housing near the input shaft.   I had one out of a Nova in my Jeep.  Not all had the number cast, and it's no guarantee they haven't been rebuilt given the age.  It is a clue.

I bought a quick ratio box and pump from AGR for my Jeep CJ w/37" tires.  Effort at the steering wheel went from pulling with both hands to being able to palm the wheel around.  Very good stuff, worth the cost.

To build on some info that was posted earlier, AMC used mechanical stops on their suspension to control the amount that the wheels turned.  GM used stops in the power steering boxes.  So putting a GM box into an AMC may result in a wider turning circle.  There is info out there on what boxes have less 'restrictive' stops, or what other differences are between a Monte Carlo SS box or a Trans Am WS6 box, for example.
1970 AMX, one step forward, one step back. Both steps cost time and money.

That is true. Just buy the correct one or some places will convert your current box to a quick ratio box. Very nice upgrade to do and well worth the money.

Exactly.

Why would you want to install a power steering kit on a car WITH power steering from the factory?

LPS = Less Power Steering
WPS = With Power Steering

If LPS is less power steering, how about MPS? More power steering?

Don't know about MPS either.
But to answer Buzzman72's question, I figured the "Power Steering Kit" to be a repair item and not a complete upgrade item. The Kit does not break down the pieces included.
In the GM/Ford, and Jeep as memory serves, worlds, you would have to order individual components, brackets, pulleys, pump, hoses, steering box and mounting hardware, as they did not offer a "Kit" as a factory part number item.
