Would anyone know which model and year this AMC lighter is for ? has a black dot in center. Same dimensions as a 1968 1969 AMX lighter . Thanks.

I don't know how generic the lighters are, but I'd say that it might be a '70 AMX or Javelin.

Not '70 AMX or Javelin.....might be '70 Gremlin/Hornet like Ian said. |

67 American? Earlier? Not 68, those have black plastic knobs. Looks 60s to me not 70s.

Same as my 69 AMX too as I recall. Don't own it any longer so can't go and check.

With the black center it is vehicle and year(s) specific. Although it looks like one from a 68/69 AMX or Javelin, they did not have the black center. This style was never used in a 70 AMX or Javelin. 70 and 71 Hornet did use this lighter with the black center. I actually have a few of these lighters, NOS in the original AMC box. I will check the part number and the parts book and report what models and years used this lighter.

I think it was for the SC/360 only.

Ok.. the part number of the black center lighter that I have is 361 6643. The parts manual says that number is correct for 70 and 71 Gremlin and Hornet only. However, in a 71 Gremlin and Hornet you could have gotten part number 364 6763, which is the chrome center version. That chrome center version is the same one found in 68 & 69 AMX and Javelin. So in the 70 Gremlin Hornet, the lighter would have been the black center and in 71 you could have gotten either the chrome center or the black center lighter.
There is no indication of the difference, in the black or chrome centers in a 71 Gremlin or Hornet, as being a running change. I have owned 5 different SC/360's and 3 of them had the black center lighters one was missing its original lighter and the other had a chrome lighter. Edited by 71SC360 - Apr/06/2022 at 9:34am |
