I have a 67 Ambo 4 speed and running a new center force clutch. It seems that the stock Clutch Pedal return spring is too heavy for the Centerforce. The Centerforce is a very light in terms of pedal force than stock. I have read online on non AMC forums that you should just cut the spring off when running a center force. I also heard to run a lighter spring. Anyone here have some experience running a Centerforce and changed the spring or run no spring at all???

You can run without it.  Actually centerforce recommends removing the overcenter spring on some applications.   Lee

Yup. It actually pulls the pedal to the floor, not return it to the top. Smile

Instead of cutting it.  Press on the clutch pedal about halfway and insert Nickels or Penney's between the spring coils.  Return the pedal to the UP position with the coins in the coils and the spring can be removed.  No need to set fire to your interior by cutting.  This also works when installing the spring.

I have Aftermarket AC that the dealer installed. Does not work but I should pull it out anyway. It is blocking most the spring. So that is why cutting it was the quick option. I saw in the manual about putting shims in the spring when extended! Going to drive this AMBO to Knoxville! That is the plan!! I will let everyone know how it drives with the spring removed!
