The more I grind on these heads, I am convinced an 1.94 intake valve is the best for anything less than full porting.

Sizing the runners for a 2.02 takes a LOT of grinding

Tend to agree with you John and this old formula backs you up for the 360 anyhow, 1.94" intake and 1.6" exhaust are about perfect.
I use 1.84" and 1.5" on a 304, larger is not required IMO.
Sorry for the conversion if using the page online calculator, but the formula has been used in racing for years:

That has been my experience as well. The csa's match better. Even 1.94" is almost "too big". Did a set of relatively no holds barred heads for a smaller engine once and used a 1.89" valve. Port efficiencies (cfm/in sq) rivalled dedicated race designs.

After cutting up a couple of 502 heads and a set of 304 heads (I can get the part number if you are curious)
IMO the 304 heads offer more material to re-shape that aweful short turn radius.

I caved in and no longer mess with iron.

Ive had real good results with an 1.84 and 1.94 valve also Ken

With the smaller valve and not having to get CSA from everywhere the shapeing optios are better

When sizing for bigger valves the port needs to be pushed everywhere and the shapes are good but a bit of a compromise
