About 30 years ago in "Cars and Parts" magazine, there was an article about rebuilding these Eatons. Now, if I can just find it....

Kirkwood knows how to rebuild these properly.

I've got a spare rebuild kit on the shelf. Bought in 2008.

Remember, the pump to reservoir gaskets are the square 'O' rings, not the round ones.

I was going to use this on my AMX but went a different direction. Still have it for sale if interested.

I may have a set of the brackets to use also.

Have rebuilt three Eaton Power steering pumps using the 7168 kit.
The instructions in the TSM are good.

Two things I did not find in the TSM are,-
Undo the pulley bolt a little, hold the pump by the pulley and tap on the bolt to release the pulley.
Easier and less damage to the pulley than a puller.

If you don't have the special service tool to install the new seal as per TSM.
Put an O-ring over the shaft next to the sharp lip to protect the new seal while installing the shaft.   (Electrical tape works too but alot more trouble getting it right.)  Make sure you hold the pump body with carrier and rollers facing up at all times or the rollers will drop out.

If the rollers are deteriorating at either end its best to find some better ones.
