The oil leaked will eat the rubber, and unless you know otherwise, it's very old. The changes of it not need replacement is exceedingly low.

What Tom said. If the oil didn't get it age would. It's got to be hard as a brick due to age or way to soft (maybe just on the lower part) due to oil damage...

That’s kind of what I was thinking, if I’m going to go through the hassle of lifting the car and taking the torque tube loose I may as well do all the wear parts down there, given the mileage I do it’ll never need to be done again. So I’ll really only need that and the seals.

Originally a 196, this one has a 199 from a 69 American.
