Took me all winter picking at it, but I got the radio in the '60 American Super wagon working. The electronics were degraded, no surprise for a 64 year old radio, but the main problems were the knobs and surprisingly, the nuts that affix the radio to the instrument panel. They're peculiar to this radio.

The antenna was more trouble than I thought to locate.

It sounds great, for such a terrible radio -- it has no AGC (automatic gain control) so that strong local stations "block" and are screaming loud, you have to tune to one side of them to hear them. Worse, weak stations require high volume to hear. Not a good combination of features.

The knobs are very difficult to find.

Description and video and audio here... can't post video on the forum I guess.

That's cool.  Reminds me of 2 things:
Cheech and Chong's "even gets AM" and
the Metropolitan I had....guy said radio didn't work....he just didn't let the tubes warm up....worked OK.
Making old stuff work is what it's about.

Very cool, even though primative to modern standards.  Love the persistent wizardry and the look.
