As you can see, the control arm on the right has a bit of a curve on one side of it. Should I try straightening or just replace?
Thanks! |

Replace. The metal properties have been damaged, side loads when turning could very well deform the control arm, alignment, strut rod. When in doubt, throw it out.

Once you find a replacement you might want to consider boxing them for greater strength.

Well, bummer. Looks like finding a used one is the only option too. Ok, thanks guys. At least I noticed it now before I put new bushings in it.

What year? I have one from my 67 American (one of mine was bent too). I went to Control Freak. Yours for the cost of shipping if it will work. Bob tufcj

Thanks for the offer, Bob! Unfortunately, that won't work as mine is a '73 and pre-70 trunnion suspensions use different control arms. APD does sell used ones, though their price of $125 seems pretty steep. Seems to be a trend that prices are going through the roof now that you don’t see AMCs in wrecking yards any longer.

Cam, if you don't find one close by, I'm pretty sure I have a couple around.

Hey, thanks Keith! I'll let you know if it comes to that. It'll be a month or so before I'll need it. |
