I need one, the whole thing. I'd gladly buy one, but they basically don't exist any more, just the shorty FM types (31 inch). On ePay are a few cheap ones, but I don't trust them to actually use copper in the cable nor have any shielding at all. (It sounds crazy to say that but...)
AMCLives has one for fifty bucks. Pricey, but I'll buy it if anyone can tell me if it actually works! lol. I mean, like, drive out into the boonies and get actual AM reception. (They also have one for 447 bucks, I thought it was a misteak, but apparently not.) Couldn't find any on eBay other than the likely-junk ones. The few recently-made ones I've seen, yanked from parts cars, had like 3 strands of shield in the cable. I know AM is mostly forgotten, but I wanna listen to KTNN on my next road trip (The Navajo Nation), a pleasure every time. "Mary has a washing machine for sale, call her at ...." and Hopi, Navajo and old-style country music ... |

I don't think I bought it at AMCLives, but the one I have looks just like it. Unfortunately, it is pretty flimsy in every regard. It bolts up to the fender ok, the antenna extends like it should, but the plastic bushing that the antenna goes through never gets tight, so it just kind of flops around. I have never had it connected to a radio as I just have an in-op factory radio in the car now. Would not recommend

Vintage Car Antennas | Shop | Classic Car Antennas i found an antenna here for my 1969 amx i bought 2 they look perfect. He bought out the stock from the company that was making them back in the day. he had all the old stock to make them up if he did not have one. he was a really nice gentleman to talk to. his name is Charles Stanley 1-912-347-2510. i think he does sell through ebay but could be wrong if it is the right store, it said he would be out until Oct. 2

LOL, vintage car antenna specialist shop! You gotta love the internet sometimes... and there's an AMERICAN MOTORS section. Thanks so much, never came across that searching.
I hadn't thought to look at RockAuto. I certainly wouldn't mind a "correct" antenna, though I ewas willing to settle for usable... Lol... "This antenna will fit the 1955-1965 Rambler American Cars. My uncle Edgar had a RAMBLER car back in the old days. This antenna is over 45 years old and is in new condition. It has a 3 section stainless steel antenna mast and will never fade or rust. It has a 48" leadin coax[Big]. The antenna is 21" lowered and extends to 56". You will love this vintage radio antenna from the 1950's. Made by WARD antenna co. CalAMX... sadly this guy isn't selling antennas any more. I finally got him on the phone, and basically said he doesn't know how to shut down his web store. So I'm awaiting refund...
www.classiccarantennas.com is no more. Which is a bummer for us, and it sounds like for him too. Nice guy. Though I do want my money back... |

Try looking at an RV shop. My 2005 Ford MH has a fender mounted, manually extended, 3 section SS antenna that has VG reception on AM bands in distant places.
Range varies on atmosphere and station wattage. Range is typically up to 1000+ miles. Wish my home systems had the same reception! My garage portable radio barely picks up a local station 30 miles away. Should add this is an AM/FM antenna, but has the same heavy coax pin connection as the Javelins antenna. I found this when changing head units as the first unit was always defaulting to Spanish radio stations from the US. Could not get the old head unit to default to English, so replaced it. Not literate in Spanish.

That's too bad. Sometimes you can puzzle out Spanish (and similar) from context. At least it wasn't a Chinese, or Hungarian, or (gasp) Australian antenna, you'd be totally as lost as I would be. Edited by tomj - Oct/16/2022 at 12:51am |

Yeah, you buy a Chinese made antenna, and all you can pick up is Chinese radio stations. What you need is a California made antenna. I can sorta kinda figure out French, but Spanish is all Greek to me... |

I bought similar to that one from Pep Boys about 8 years ago. Now I see that NAPA has it for $15, and Amazon for $12. Chinese. The attachment is not floppy on mine, despite the nut being "chromed" plastic.
