Sorry if this is beating a dead horse, but the search function has been no help. Is it possible to move 68 seats back a bit for more legroom? I haven't had a manual brake vehicle in 40 years. Not much room to lift the right leg to get on the brake pedal. Sheesh, that thing is high.

Scott, I believe the seat tracks have studs that the seat frames bolt to. It might be possible to make an adapter plate to mount to the tracks, then weld new studs farther back to mount the seat. This would also raise the seat a bit, eroding already precious headroom, but since it's sliding downward, maybe it's doable. It would also maintain the original adjustment mechanism, just revising the seat location. Been a while since I installed seats/tracks, but I'm 6' tall and my biggest problem is clearing the non-tilt steering wheel with my knees! Terry Sumter |

Thanks, Terry. I kind of figured that I may have to fabricate some sort of setback brackets. Guess I'll have to flip a seat over and come up with a plan.

Manual or power brakes?
When I converted from manual drum to power disc the actuating rod dropped the brake pedal to almost even with the gas pedal. Perfect for heel and toeing. Getting a shorter actuating rod may be easier than moving seats since the seats are below the rear floor.

I would like to do the same thing. But, looking at my existing seats (came from a Saturn SL1 sedan) that use the AMX tracks I don't see any simple way to let them move back farther. The challenge, as I see it is the shape of the floor pan. My bottom rear of the seats at the full back position very close to the floor pan rise already. It looks like any adapter bar I add to allow the seats to go back farther would also require lifting the seats higher which create other problems. dave
