I don't want to stir things up, but it is generally not recommended to re-use U-Bolts.  Most of the recommendations come from the folks who sell U-bolts so you have to consider too.  Personally, I don't reuse them.  Below is a video link with a rep from Eaton/Detroit Springs.  If the threads have been chased with a die I would say they are probably ruined.

I would tend to trust original fasteners (and do) over new fasteners, unless the originals are damaged, cross-threaded or corroded. 

The quality of modern fasteners, with the exception of ARP fasteners, fasteners used specifically for the automotive industry in modern cars, older ‘made in USA’ fasteners, or aircraft or MIL-SPEC fasteners, is highly questionable.
