This is what you are up against, are there fake lifters out there just like everything else? I'd assume you would have purchased from a reputable supplier too and not some fly by night operation.

Any of you guys ever try reground cams/reconditioned lifters? May seem like a cheapskate thing to do but I suspect that if you did it to good condition OE parts the quality of material in the items would be more predictable. 

I was just looking at hardness files, unfortunately they only go down to 40RC. If they went to 30-35 I'd say test your cam in a non-sensitive spot before installation. 

Rhoads sells .904 lifters direct, that was kind of the other thing I was thinking about. Yeah they may not be optimal for a lot of setups but you'd at least know the source.

Many people are still running flat tappet cams with no issues so it is not a sure thing its going to fail by any means 

I'm not willing to chance it anymore
