Looking for a FRONT wheel/tire combo for my 68 AMX. Will a 15 X 6 wheel with backspace of 4" with a BFG radial 215/65 R15 on an 1968 AMX avoid touching the trunion? I have 15 x 7 with backspace 4-1/2" with BFG radial 235/60 R15 on the rear and these DEFINATELY will not fit in the front because of the trunion. The profiles are similar except for the front width being 0.8" less in tire and of course the improved backspace of 1/2".

G.Peter, did you make a decision? I'm in a similar situation helping a friend get wheels for his 68 AMX.

1970 AMX, one step forward, one step back. Both steps cost time and money.

On my 69 AMX, I'm running a 235/60-15 Michelin Pilot on a 15x7 wheel with 4.25" backspace. It's tight, but fits with about a fingers width to the trunnion. Been running that size for 15+ years with no problem. Bob tufcj

I did. I went with the P225/60 R15 BFG-10971 with the 15x6 54 Magnum 500 for the front. BUT I am still waiting to get the car back from my guy who is replacing all the seals, hoses etc... so I have yet to try them on the front. I will update when I can.

Finally mounted the rims/tires. Fits perfect in the front with plenty of room for the trunions. 15 X 6 wheel with backspace of 4" with a BFG radial 215/65 R15 in the front works!! Hope that helps.
