Car is a 1969 AMX, but I'm sure Javelins and maybe others are the same.

Are the electric wiper arms the same as vacuum wiper arms or are they unique?

They look pretty generic; are the wiper arms unique to AMCs or will other arms of similar vintage work?

  • The wiper posts are bigger in 69-up than 68, so early arms won't fit.
  • Vacuum or electric should be the same - the linkages are different, but the posts are the same size.
  • The arms are designed to fit the size of the windshield, the blades are designed for the curvature (but are pretty generic) You need arms and blades that fit together and work with your windshield. Interchange will be hit or miss.
According to Rock Auto, they sell a wiper arm for AMC, but claim it fits 1960 through 1984, which cannot be true due to the aforementioned change in post size. Still, it gives a place to start. They list Anco PN 4103. It may be possible to get brand new arms.

All Javelin and AMX wiper arms interchange, except for those '68 small post arms.
