Mopar used the Kelsey Hayes brakes as well, from maybe 1970 until  77 or 78. Those calipers may be available from the usual parts stores. But, the hole for the brake hose is in a slightly different spot. When you thread the hose in to the Mopar caliper, & try to install it on your AMC, the hose hits. You can carefully bend the metal part of the hose & make it fit that way.

I've heard the AMC calipers have a A cast in to them, Mopar calipers do not. If you go the Mopar caliper route, don't turn your AMC calipers in as a core! Keep 'em & rebuild them.

Helpful Kelsey Hayes article here. By Richard Ehrenberg, S.A.E. Mopar Action Magazine, 2-2022. Athlon Pub & Co.

"Prolly" is not a word.

I just had a passenger side caliper freeze up on my 73 Javelin (single piston Kelsey Hayes).
Calipers were unavailable and I needed to go to a car show.

Put on a caliper that fits a 1970 Plymouth Road Runner. All the dimensions are the same as the correct AMC one. Drove it to a car show 106 miles one way, during 4 days of the show and home and no problems.

When I went to change the pads on the drivers side, it already had a Chrysler caliper on it.

Don't know if it was the right thing to do or use, but it got me there and back.

At O'reilly's I can pretty well guarantee that if it says "in stock" they'll send you the Mopar casting....you might be able to bend the metal part of the brake hose for clearance, but it probably won't be the correct caliper with a large A cast into it (for American Motors.)
18-4029 is the left one 18-4030 is the right. Usually "Out of Stock"
74 Hornet Hatchback X twins (since 1977)
62 American Convertible (still worth the $50 I spent in 1973!) AMCRC #513, AMO #384
70 AMX 360 4-speed (since 1981)

O'Reilly was out of stock for the correct AMC replacement as were all the other major parts stores and Rockauto..

The Chrysler one did work and was the only option to get going. Not a show car so just needed it to work.

Now to locate rotors to have on hand.

Idler arm was bad also. Good thing I had one as it was "out of stock" everywhere.

Seems to be everything is out of stock.

Just as side note they are not too terribly hard to rebuild and Rock auto has all the rebuild parts. I have a stack of part in my garage from rock auto to rebuild my entire brake system on my 1974 Matador coupe. Just have not go to that one yet. LRDaum
