We're in the UK and removed an old Lucas! alternator from our 232 classic as it wasn't charging, and tried installing a new one-wire HC Cargo alternator, but that is also showing no sign of charging.
We've tried manually exciting the field and also raising the RPMs but to no effect. Is there any reason we're not seeing the expected ~14v charging? Thnx.

What is the part number of the one-wire HC Cargo alternator you used?

The part no. Is 110505.

Where does it say one wire? Their illustration shows the connector for lamp and signal wire |

Heavy, thank you for the sense-check. We gave 12v to the sense terminal and it started charging!
You're correct, the HC Cargo site does not describe it as a 1-wire alternator, but it was sold to us (on eBay) as such. All good now, thnx all for the help.
