I have had several GM muscle cars with Quadrajets over the years. Started buying them when they were cheap and about 10 years old. Kept buying some when they were close to 20 years old. I had good luck with them. I don't remember any major problems.

My sister owned a '68 Camaro convertible with a 327/Glide. At 101,xxx miles we cleaned and rebuilt the Quadrajet. Put it back on, and then had to replace the phenolic float. Other than the float problem, she never had another problem with the carb. And that's been my only experience with one.

Buzzman72...void where prohibited, your mileage may vary, objects in mirror may be closer than they appear, and alcohol may intensify any side effects.

Thge biggest problem with a Q-Jet is, people who tighten the 2 front mounting bolts down with a 3' bar. They warp the top. Reman Q-Jets I see have a thick upper gasket in them to make up for that. A couple decades back, all the rebuilt kits I saw had a thin upper gasket, hence having problems.

Then the Accelerator pumps that came in the kits weren't right either. Hence why I gave up on those Carbs. If they make a quality kit now, that'd be great.

"Even a dirty carburetor is better than aftermarket fuel injection"

you can always blueprint and rebuild your carb.

Go drive your car !!!
