 What auto transmissions will fit right up to the AMC 304 (4,5,6 speeds, not 3 speeds)

You need an adaptor. Look at https://www.novak-adapt.com/catalog/adapters/engine-to-transmission/amc/

Is the Comanche a 4-speed automatic?
I looked up a 700r4, it will fit with an adapter if my crank flange is sticking out far enough, at least half an inch, that's something I don't know yet I have to pull the stock 3 speed automatic. GM Performance makes a six-speed automatic for older V8s,says the bell housing is adapted to fit Fords and Chevys but not sure about AMC's |

There is a sticky written by forum member Rick Jones (SC397) on installing an AW4 into a '69 Javelin, and here's my own thread on installing one into my '72 304 Javelin. No adapter needed.
