For this reason - I sourced all NOS / NORS asbestos brake shoes for my 67 Rogue all drum / no power Bendix brakes. The newer shoe compounds are much harder than original and don't brake right on these old systems. Yes, I will have to mask up and use plenty of brake clean when I pull them in the future - but I want the car to stop first and foremost.
