I’m in the same boat except it’s a 343 and earlier Pertronix Ignitor, smaller cap looks much better in my opinion. No noticeable difference in performance. I always keep the dizy gear with the cam gear to avoid failures in that department. Used to be the Mallory didn’t come with a gear, instructions were to reuse the gear from your original distributor.

Back around 2011 I put the Pertronix 1181 in the stock distributor and it worked great.
I got four vintage cars back around 2010/11. One is now a perfect mint numbers matching car. One is a non matching nice driver. One was a Roadrunner saved from being parted out. And one was the Javelin saved from being crushed. I got the Javelin and Roadrunner somewhere beyond drivable projects, but not to nice drivers. The Javelin went to its new home last week and the RR is leaving this week. I have had a GM HEI in my Pontiac nice driver, and just lost spark. In retrospect, I wish I had just done a Pertronix in that also.
