Has anyone installed a Gear Vendors overdrive behind a 727 in a Javelin? I tried a search but maybe there's already a thread on the topic. I don't really want to swap to a GM trans. My 727 is all dialed in and has a good torque converter. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

Forum member DMack has one in his Javelin. I'm not sure he has posted anything about it so maybe send him a pm.

Hi Bob,

My name is Dave and I'm the guy Keith was talking about that has a Gear Vendors in my AMC.  Its a 73 with a 727.  It is not a "bolt in" installation, but well worth it.  Mine had a factory 727 in it as well that I had rebuilt before I made the decision to go with the GV.  So, I purchased another core and built it to go in with the GV.  Only mod that I chose to do was to remove the long output shaft and install the "truck" output shaft.  This reduces overall length. On my 73' you can use the factory cross member, you just have to move it forward slightly.  Installation is very straight forward and relatively simple. I had to modify the shifter assembly to get it to fit and work functionally.  I'll send some pics, if they are helpful.  Please ask any questions you might have.  Overall i totally love it!  3:55 gears and a 25" tall tire, I can do 75 at about 2600.

Hope this helps.
