So somewhere on the intake manifold is a fitting for that 4 hose?  OK, I'll look tomorrow.  I wish someone had a photo.  The Service Manual is good but nothing on fuel and vacuum lines.  Thanks, Capt. John

Mystery vacuum hose continued.

I have two rubber hoses off the bottom of the fuel pump which I assume is a vacuum booster. Hose #1 goes up into the firewall and presumably to the wiper motor.

Hose 2 is a mystery.  It's 14" long and the open end was laying down over the frame.

I'm told it should go to the intake manifold. I scoured the intake manifold and found a metal metal fittinmg coming out of the intake just below the carb with a short 8" metal tube attached that went back behind the manifold to nothing.  It had a rubber cap stuck on the end of it. ???

Have to wonder if that is where the mystery hose has to connect to? Need to find somebody with a running Alum. 6 cyl. to compare notes with.

Picture would help. Btw, Im totally confused as to upload a jpg on this forum. I clicked the upload image and it I'm at a loss to understand.

ANY AND ALL HELP IS APPRECIATED!

Look in the manual -- it's likely you're looking at the vacuum booster pump for the wipers. It's on the opposite end of the pump from the fuel pump.

Pushbutton automatics use the NEUTRAL button as starter, and there's a vacuum switch in the manifold so that NEUTRAL doesn't run the starter when the engine is already running.

Umm, this is all in the TSM, you shoudl probably look through it when you have spare time. It's a wealth of information.

Manual is very brief on vacuum lines, wiper motor, etc.  Lot's of other great stuff however.
