I should have been clearer, yes they can be used, BUT you had to grind the studs and manifolds.  That mating surface on the manifolds is pretty narrow to begin with so exhaust leak possibility is higher.

 The only areas the exhaust manifolds needed grinding is between the lower stud nuts and manifolds also the right side cast rails for the stove pipe on the back side, there was no material removed from the sealing surfaces.
