LT-1 corvette : 140 feet
Z-28: 140 ft
AAR Cuda: 140 ft
Porsche 914: 149 ft
Mach 1 429: 149 ft
Lotus Europa:133 ft
Gremlin 232: 201 ft :)
Firebird TA: 138 ft
Camaro Trans Am race car: 122 ft  ( .96G cornering!)

At the time, no other magazine tested handling and braking as thoroughly as SCG did.  Because essentially no one else tested either.  SCG did skidpad G measurements, stopping distance...  in the 1960s.

Both the Boss 302 and Z28 stopped better than AMX or Javelin- better brakes and bigger tires.

SCG on the vega: There are so many innovations made merely to reduce the number of pieces and improve reparability.  that it can't possibly work"  :)

I still have most of those Sports Car Graphic magazines including the AMX one. Seems like it ran a 15.0 quarter mile. I think that SCG had the lift or downforce posted on each end of the car also. I also have the Motor Trend with the 70 AMX and better braking numbers. I'm just saying what the magazine said. I know that my AMX always locked up rear brakes and didn't stop terribly fast or straight, and it has disc brakes.

I also have either a SCG or Car Life that tested all the factory versions of the Trans AM race cars, and the Javelin cornered much worse in one direction due to loss of oil pressure.

Notice that none of those stopping distances match the 119 feet from 60-0 in the '68 AMX Motor Trend test!
74 Hornet Hatchback X twins (since 1977)
62 American Convertible (still worth the $50 I spent in 1973!) AMCRC #513, AMO #384
70 AMX 360 4-speed (since 1981)

The T/A Camaro test results are interesting, but it would be more interesting to compare them to a T/A Javelin for a true apples-to-apples comparison.

Does anyone have the data for an AMX with stock Bendix power disc brakes? Contemporary test?

What/who is SCG?

Your results will be far better with todays tires. Bias ply skinnies that were used for testing in 70 is weak link.
Big wide modern tires stop well. I had some lady cut in front of me and slam on her brakes (On purpose to be a female canine) doing 50-60 on the highway. I quickly stopped safely and straight without skidding. have concord front discs as well as rear disc and z rated performance tires. If that was tried on old crap tires I would have plowed into here for sure.
