Like the title says. What is the spec?

The TSM says to use some kent moore tool that nobody has to check the height. I could make a tool out of cardboard if I just knew how wide it was. I can't seem to find this information on google or with the search function. Anybody know?

I actually found the dumb kent moore J-10208 on ebay and bought it. I guess I will have to wait a week before I torque down the float bowl. When it arrives I will measure the width of the float gauge to help people in the future. I hate all the specialty tools the TSM has in it. Like anyone has all these weird use it once in your lifetime tools.

My 69 TSM says the 1931 float level should be 5/16".

Most carb kits I have used have included a gauge and the spec.

Ahh thank you. Most helpful. The kit I got had a little ruler but no spec. Now that I have all the goofy little gauges I suppose I will wait to adjust everything until it arrives and I can do it "by the book".

It's been a couple of decades since I used a carb kit. They all had the float spec's in the instruction sheet. I guess the times they are a changing.

Unless you are keen to use the new (ish) tool you just bought, I would use the gauge included in the kit and call 'er done.

So, what was the width of the float gauge?
Thanks for posting!
