Not to worry.  If Tony did it it'll look like it came out of Roger Penske's shop.

Jeff, the dash was literally mint, stored in a warehouse out of the weather for many years really saved this car. Rust free original metal and soft plastics everywhere.

Cam, this car is a cruiser that presents ok. It's not at Peggys level!

[QUOTE=72Javelin]Nice project!
A couple of comments:
Last I looked, Peter Stathes had door weatherstrips, window run channels, and belt weatherstrips for these cars.

You may also want to consider Restoration Specialties, Windber, PA( 814-467-9842; www.restorationspecialties.com) for the window channels. Earlier this year they came out with AS6778AMC which used a NOS channel as a pattern and test fit to match. It was molded specifically for the 1967 to 1978 big body (Rebel, Matador, Ambassador) 4 door sedans and wagons. The AS1249 which is shown for 1964-69 Rambler sedans is not correct for the 1967-78 models. The base is too thick. I don't believe the AS6778AMC is in their catalog yet.

I attached as a pdf the dimensions based on the NOS piece and a test fit on my 1972 Ambassador. The original NOS corner cut had 5 slits, each 3/32 inch wide. I used 8 slits. Also attached is a picture of the corner cut I used.uploads/10200/FRONT_DOOR_INSTRUCTIONS_pdf.pdf

The latest project was some new stainless trim for the tops of the doors. The ones on the car have some good sized dings and dents that bothered me. A friend in Quebec had a full set on his parts car and sent them west to me. This is a good project because I needed to buy a new tool! The small hammer worked much better than my bigger hammer/dolly set. After watching a few youtube videos I started in on the new trim.

No major damage but a few dings and scratches to clean up.

Some hammer work and then the file to see high and low spots followed with some more hammer work.

Lots of sanding starting at 180 and ending up with 2000 grit.

Now I just need to get them installed without dinging or scratching anything!
