I'm currently going through the dash wring harness in my 74' Javelin AMX, and it's been hacked up pretty good by the previous owner. I'm looking around either for a wiring diagram I can follow, or a replacement wiring harness. The only new wiring harness I can currently find is for a 73' Javelin. Are these two interchangeable? My car has a 120mph speedometer with the oil warning light, and the seatbelt interlock system is still intact. I also posted in the Wanted section if anyone had a true 74' dash wiring harness that they would part with, if the price is right. I'm pretty new to the forum, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

74, interchangeable i believe not. Coincidentally today i started eyeing my salvage picked 30+ years ago harness.  I have or had hopes of using it for my 72 std to rally pak upgrade. its way rough and since its a rally harness it's not a fit for your jav. 72 and 73 were the closest in mechanicals and someone correct me but 74 is its own animal. its got some odd looking connectors there. if you need any photos of anything shout out. I may sell for parts or Frankenstein it into my non-rally one day.
have a good one

Yes, the 74 has differences on the panel connections. Some of which can be corrected by swapping your connector and pinout locations with the replacement. Seems like the some connections get swapped to some previously unused areas for the 74, though the number of connections are the same that are used in the connectors.

I think the biggest issue is windshield wiper switch. The connector is not swappable with its connections. So for a no issues swap, a 74 harness needs to be in order.

does anyone have pictures of how the under dash wiring harness hangs and locations? I am installing a new harness in 72 AMX and have no clue how it is installed.

A simple request by your own thread will work, instead of flooding with the same question in other older threads. Please state which year, they are different, being the move to bulkhead connection after 72.
