As I understand the 1960 Rambler American heater system, the fan only blows air at the defroster vents when on. Is there a way to change this so it will blow fresh air into the foot area of the passenger compartment. Right now the only flow is when the car is moving and it is not a lot - speed dependent.

There's a flapper valve operated by a cable below the panel to the right of the unipod. It's marked PULL FOR VENT/HEATER or something. Does that not do it? I have a '60 wagon but it's apart right now.
THe fan definitely blows out to the floor all the time. The round plastic cover over the fan, removabel via two screws using a 3/8" wrench, should reveal the fan. There's cutouts on the lower side. Maybe it's filled with leaves. |

Thanks for the reply. I took the cover off and found it does blow into the passenger compartment - just not very hard. The fan switch has multiple positions but my fan only runs at one speed. I guess I have a little problem to correct.
