Regarding the glove compartment light switch. Some of these were known to have the plating inside the switch barrel flake off and create a high resistance short within the switch when the plunger was in and the switch was supposed to be off ( no continuity ). Something in the order of several hundred ohms or so. There should be a total open circuit ohm meter reading with the switch plunger pushed in. The light would not light but there would be a drain to ground through the bulb or even through the two wires feeding the switch if the bulb was removed.
Possibly a flush out with WD-40 or something similar may bring a bad switch back into service.
Long time AMC fan. Ambassador 343, AMX 390, Hornet 360, Spirit 304 and Javelin 390. All but javelin bought new.
