I'm wondering if there are significant differences in the sheetmetal parts for AMX/Javelin from 1968 up. For instance, I'm working on my 1968 AMX, and know the underhood structure differs from 68 to 69, and the newer doors have the reinforcement. Any difference in trunk lids and or the interior sheetmetal on the doors? Fender marker lights are different, anything else? Thanks for any information y'all can share.
Project finally underway $$$! near-basket case 1968 AMX #2789 was 290/auto will be 343/auto

68- to 74 AMX & Javelin/Javelin AMX trunk lids are mostly the same and will interchange.

years back on a previous forum, Tom Benvie had a great post showing the changes to the doors, trunk lids, etc between 68-74. The quick answer is there are a lot of minor changes. The early doors had the flow thru ventilation and three bolts in the lower hinge. 70 door had provisions for the additional pull strap. There were some minor changes on the 68-9 fender in the portion behind the door, several small changes to the 1970 fender as well. 71+ trunk lid had cutouts for two additional rubber bumpers to help support the weight from the spoiler

Returning to this topic, any differences from 68 to 74 on the rear valance piece? I seem to think the gas filler notch moved - or am I wrong?

Yes, the filler neck moved.  Anyone know why?
68-70 had a partial circular cutout in the valence for the filler neck.  In 71? they changed it to a slot so they could only have one part that would fit 68-74
Because of this, and because almost every car has been even lightly rear-ended in 50 years, the 68-70 OE style valence is difficult to find in restorable condition.
IIRC this has been reproduced in the later style.
