This film covers AMC's inaugural 1968 Trans Am season.  In their first season, the team led by Ronnie Kaplan out of Elk Grove, IL scored a bunch of second place finishes. Helped to have Revson and Follmer as their chauffeurs (quote from Dan Gurney).

Team surprised the pundits out of the gate and put together a string of 4 consecutive 2nd place finishes in the middle of the season.  Donohue, in a Camaro, ran away with the series.  AMC had a chance to best Ford, but the Javelin's couldn't keep pace with the other teams development, and faded the last 4 races of the year.  That foreshadowed the 1969 season where Javelins only scored 14 points.  That led to Penske/Donohue teaming with AMC for the '70 season and the start of AMC Trans Am glory!

Interviews with Kaplan, Revson, Follmer, John Martin.  Cameos by Gurney, John Jerry Titus and Mark Donohue.
