True that.  I even hate to get oil on it, lol.

Got an engine stand so I can flip the engine over to work on the bottom side.  It's supposed to be rated at 2,000 lbs, but seems like Chinese lbs. are about 1/4 of ours, so I'm putting a jack stand under the front part of the engine except when I need to rotate it.

Took the oil pan and the main caps off the 360 to inspect the bearings and they're pretty worn, so might as well rebuild the engine.

Hey, we're now "historic".  Actually, in AZ any car over 25 years old qualifies for one of these plates, and I've been putting it off because I hate seeing cars from the 90s (especially Japanese cars) running around with them. But as this fine American car is now 54 years old, I think it's time.

The recently procured 360 from my last few posts is now being rebuilt with Wiseco pistons and a Herbert CA6P roller cam.  Ought to really wake the old girl up.

Just bought a Borgeson 12.7 steering gear for it as well.  The '94 Cherokee box that's in there now is a big improvement over the original steering gear, but I have this same Borgeson box in my '73 Javelin and it's even better.  The bigger torsion bar really gives the steering a more modern feel, and the old Jeep box has started leaking.

Took the car into my favorite local repair shop and had them evacuate the refrigerant from the a/c so that I can get started pulling the accessories in preparation for dropping the engine.  They did it while I waited, so that was nice.  Took 1 lb. and 3 oz. of R134 out.  I made a note of that so we know how much to put back in.

Compressor, fan and radiator, p/s pump, steering arms and lower control arms will all have to come out before the engine can be dropped.  Rear seal is leaking pretty good these days.  The 304 still runs great, but I won't miss the oil drips.

We're reusing the intake and exhaust manifolds for the new 360 so I'll need to pull them off the motor and on their way to the engine builder.

The 304 is out... getting ready for the 360.  I know I'm far from the first guy on this forum to drop an engine, but it always feels like an accomplishment when it's sitting on the ground.  Time for a beer.

The 360 is not quite ready yet, but I need to strip some things of this one to put on it... intake and exhaust manifolds, pulleys, etc.

Will also need to detail the engine bay while the motor is out, so I've got enough to keep me busy for a while yet.
