I can't find a replacement brake light switch like the one in my '68 AMX. Vendors show a 1956-'67 style and a 1969-'72 style, neither of which looks like the one I need. My switch is about a 1"X 1-1/2" rectangle shape with 2 terminals that point towards the floor. Is there a source for the one I need? Or could I use the mounting bracket and switch from a '69 AMX or Javelin? Thanks!

Last ones I got at an appliance store. It fit the bracket and had the correct terminals. I just brought the old one into the appliance repair shop and the woman at the counter went to the back, came out with a box, and I got 2 for less then $10.
Sorry, no numbers or appliance application.

This style switch was discontinued early from service parts availability and was replaced with the 69+ style and an adapter bracket. For 68, auto and 4 speed may have also had different PNs originally.

I see that some vendors now offer the later update. Thanks for the reply.

I would think if you got stuck, and it's not a show car, that you could use the switch for the bottom of the MC and make two short, simple wire each with a pin end and spade end.

I just found a used one that I'm supposed to pick up tomorrow. If it doesn't work out I'll be back in touch. Thanks!

This style switch can be carefully disassembled and the internal contacts can be cleaned. It's a very simple design, but it has two compression springs inside so don't lose those.
