I am currently running a TCI 11" behind a mild 401/727 with a Cheetah valve body and like it but need a bit more stall going to a tunnel ram and a new motor making 425 or so HP. Looking at the 10" ATI treemaster or the Turbo Action pro series. Both will build the unit to my specs but the ATI uses all new components. Anyone out there running these? Im looking for right around 3200 stall

I'm no expert on stall converters, but I ran one for probably 25 years in a street car.
It was a 10 inch B&M Super HoleShot 3500 stall in a TF/TC 727 in a 343/360 AMX with 3.73's.
3500 stall seems to be kinda an "upper limit" for 10 inch converters.
The "drawback" is the internal mods done to get 3500 stall cause 5-7% or more SLIP at speed.
imho if looking for a 3000-3500 stall converter the smaller the converter diameter
the more efficient, less slippage, it will have at speed, like in street driving.
A good 8" or 9" 3200-3500 Stall Converter will cost $900 or $1k though.
My B&M converter was under $400, albeit over 25 years ago, and is still in the car.
But tach readings and trap speeds indicated the 5-7% top end converter slippage
which B&M confirmed as "normal" for what I had in phone conversations.
I really wanted to spend the $1000 and get a "good" 8 or 9-inch" converter because
the "math" showed the car "should" run 12.00 flat and it ran 12.6's with the B&M.

Find a reputable converter manufacturer and get one made for your exact combo. It may be more money but you'll extract thevery bit of hp/et out of your set up. I have the wrong converter in my car and no matter what changes I make I can't relize my cars full potential, it's that important.I can't recommend a specific manufacturer everyone has their own preference. And don't be surprised ifor they spec out a smaller diameter than you are used to. Converter technology has com a long way along with everything else.

Yes I am going the custom route for sure...looks like an ATI treemaster at this point. Somewhere around 800 bucks so not cheap but good parts never are and I hate yanking transmissions back out. I have a 10" 727 TC laying on a shelf I got in a package deal but have no idea what it is and am not taking any chances. Gonna sell it and the 11" TCI breakaway as well

Have you checked out Turbo action? They make a bunch of stuff for our AMC's.  Got a custom made 10" steel stator converter for $800, that's not bad. But then again that was like 3 yrs., ago.
