Do you have a picture of the trunk and how the fuel cell filler looks?

In the run position there is but it my not be there during the cranking.

I put the cheapo HEI back in and it runs fine

How are you triggering the starter?  With a stock type starter solenoid?
You may already know having rewired the car, but the "I" terminal on the starter solenoid is to power the ignition during cranking.

I did a Painless harness and had the same problem with constant power to the ignition.  I actually went to their headquarters in Ft. Worth (son lives in Arlington) and met with a supervisor who pulled the design up on his computer and we found a 12V supply that's on in both run and start.  You could maybe contact Ron Francis and see if they can help with that.

Good point. I am running a Power master starter so perhaps I need to energize the MSD box 12 V keyed wired from that?

Took the AMX out for a short ride and had a banging noise in the rear. Turns out I did not have the rear shocks tight, SOOOOO   I had to remove the passenger side Recaro seat, real pain in the arse, and get to the upper mounts.  Although this is a 1970 I have the KONI shocks mounted 1968-69 style not with the 1970 style removable brackets.  Works better with the Dana 60 this way.

Another ride scheduled for this weekend if it does not rain, they on to the window to get the to fit. Not looking forward to that!!

Yep, 68/69 does work, the skewed shock setup for 70 on up did not do as well for Javelin and AMX bodies as engineers expected. I had wheel hop with 70s skewed style, and with straight to the rear cross member... after I changed up to a Mopar rear end. I rather have early style, just for the robustness under extremes. Too much flex on the sheet metal, which will fatigue with road racing conditions.

At least you only had a shock issue to diagose. Meaning its just about road ready.

Decided to remove the rear springs and correct the " too low " situation.  Back in the day I had reversed the spring eyes to lower the car but now my needs have changed and we are correcting the leaf springs back to the conventional configuration. NOT A RACE CAR anymore so the 1-2 inch additional height will now only match the front but prevent my tires from crushing the flares if I encounter a big pot hole.

Was not a big deal, the both springs were out of the car in 1 1/2 hours. Soon as the local spring wizard does his magic I will reinstall them.

I also "eyeballed" the front alignment with a level and tape .  Enough to get it to the alignment shop once the rear height is set and 15 gallons of 104 are in the tank

Now it sits level. By returning the springs to the normal install position I was able to gain 2 1/2 inches so with a 1/2 tank it sits level.  Previously the tire was 1 inch from the flare and would not have been a pretty sight at the first bump. Now there is about 3 1/2 inches.

Also ordered KYB shocks to replace the ancient double adjustable KONIs that were in the car for years,  Not sure what happened to the KONIs but they were stuck in a mode that made it nearly impossible to spread. The KYBs will give a much better ride I am sure.

I will have available 4 KONI double adjustable shocks since I not longer need them. They are no longer made but can be rebuilt

Looks good sitting level.

But I had to snicker when in the same post you said 'its not a race car' and then '15 gallons of 104'.  The car looks really good.
