Vinyl top won't show on the door tag; only on the build sheet or window sticker.

I haven't read anything that would tell where that info would be located.

I'm gonna guess that if your Machine has a vinyl top it's probably original or at least it had one originally.  Not too many people would add one to that type of car.

Your guess is probably correct. However, trim/upholstery shops did install quite a few aftermarket vinyl tops back then because they were really in style from about '66-76. I had a friend who had one installed on a Duster!

my car is an original sonic silver color with a black hood, when i was installing the chromoly roll bar the silver was in deed in the interior ,,,now the last owner had stripped the entire car and painted it a big bad blue color and the vynal top looks replaced with the restoration done 9-10 years ago ,,i am looking to repaint the car to the original paint and black hood ,if the vynal top was original i will keep it,but if it was an add on froma previous owner ,it's gone      i even found a hand writen tag in the rear seat coils with door tag numbers ,but no indication of black vynal top   gmonde
